Odd Ones Out Drawing Software
TheOdd1sOut, also known as Robert James Rallison, is a popular American YouTuber with over 13.3 million subscribers and 2.55 billion views spread out over a hundred animated videos. So, what drawing tablet does TheOdd1sOut use in order to create his animations? Well…
TheOdd1sOut has publically confirmed that he uses a Yiynova MVP22U V3 Tablet, a powerful but affordable screen tablet. However, before getting the Yiynova, he had used a Bamboo Create to create most of his animations.
What's the difference between the two tablets, and why did he switch over? Continue reading to get an in-depth breakdown of why this may be so!
TheOdd1sOut's Present Tablet – the Yiynova MVP22U V3 Screen Tablet
TheOdd1sOut's most recently used tablet is the Yiynova MVP22U V3. It's not the most well-known tablet, and it's unlikely that anyone would have actually heard of it. However, that doesn't take away from the actual quality of the product.
It works with both finger touch and pen touch, a feature that you don't see often, but is helpful nonetheless, especially for those in animation!
TheOdd1sOut uses the screen tablet with Paint Tool Sai (which is included in the Yiynova license), and edits his videos through Adobe Premier!
How Much Does it Cost?
As a screen tablet, the Yiynova is quite pricey. However, it was definitely considered one of the cheaper options at the time of its release in 2017. Especially when considered against name-brand screen tablets (like the Cintiqs — which cost several thousand apiece.)
With the Yiynova MVP22U V3, you can expect to spend around $680-$700, which is substantially cheaper, but will still require quite a bit of investment.

Is it Worth it?
At the time, the Yiynova MVP22U V3 had been a great 'budget' screen tablet. However, with the most recent releases 'cheap' screen tablets from popular brands like Wacom and Huion, it's no longer at the top of the 'alternatives' list.
There will always be a use for it, but it's not the one I'd recommend.
TheOdd1sOut's Old Drawing Tablet – Wacom Bamboo Create
The Bamboo Create was the TheOdd1sOut's OG tablet. It's the one he used at the very beginning, and what he used to make a majority of his animations in the beginning. In fact, it's the tablet a lot of the old professionals used.
It doesn't come with a screen, but just like most Wacom tablets, it's highly reactive and very reliable. At the time it had been worth around $100 which made it a great option for just about anyone. You can still find it around, but…
Nowadays, people prefer the Wacom Intuos , the newest of which is even cheaper than the Bamboo Create's original price on Amazon.
Why did TheOdd1sOut Switch?
The Bamboo Create, as mentioned, is a pretty old tablet. Of course, age doesn't necessarily require a replacement, but it is one of the potential reasons TheOdd1sOut had switched out. Another could be the fact that he wanted a screen (which is a lot easier to work with, and requires less hand-eye-coordination.)
There's no knowing his exact reason for making the switch, but it was definitely warranted.
The Yiynova MVP22U V3 vs the Wacom Bamboo Create? Which is better for you?
There's no real answer to this question, as I wouldn't recommend anyone to choose either tablet now. However, what they represent can definitely be differentiated. That is…
The Yiynova is for those that are looking for something bigger and more powerful. It's a screen tablet, and it's packed with many advanced features that the Bamboo Create does not have. However, in that same vein, it's also a lot more expensive — and will require a lot more of an investment to be able to afford.
On the other hand, you have the Bamboo Create. It's budget-friendly and reliable. Perfect for beginners and those just starting out, but also more than enough for some of the most experienced animators (who tend to prefer the simplicity and affordability of non-screen tablets.)
Neither is technically the better option, it's just a matter of choosing the one that best suits your needs, budget, etc. Keeping that in mind, answer this, which is better for you?
